ASHLEY WELESCHUK, Calgary Personal Injury Lawyer
Ashley joined Cuming & Gillespie LLP as an Associate in 2023, following the completion of her articles at the Alberta Lawyers Indemnity Association, where she did defence work for lawyers in professional negligence lawsuits.
Ashley graduated from the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Law with her Juris Doctor in 2022. During law school, Ashley was an Associate Editor-in-Chief for the Alberta Law Review journal, the Vice-President (Academic) on the Society of Law Students, and a tutor for first-year law students. She was awarded Dean’s List status, as well as a variety of scholarships and awards for academic performance.
Ashley developed an interest in legal ethics and professionalism during law school. She had the opportunity to work as a summer student with the Policy and Education departments at the Law Society of Alberta, and as a research assistant to Justice Alice Woolley, assisting with the third edition of the textbook Understanding Lawyers Ethics in Canada by Justice Woolley and Professor Amy Salyzyn.
Before starting law school, Ashley completed an Honours Bachelor of Science at the University of Calgary. She spent time working in organic chemistry laboratories and as a Program Assistant at the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning at the University of Calgary.
Outside of the office, Ashley enjoys staying active through cycling, swimming, and curling. She also is a volunteer stylist with My Best Friend’s Closet, an organization that provides stylish clothing for girls and young women in need.
